The role of the finance department is to assist Chief and Council to strengthen the effectiveness, efficiency and accountability of its governance. The Finance Department provides support to funded programs and services offered by Chemawawin Cree Nation in assisting the operating departments in accomplishing their financial and operational objectives.
CCN Financial Services Department provides a wide range of accounting and reporting functions that:
-support CCN Chief and Council including Management with information for planning and control.
-ensure transparency by providing accurate and timely reporting.
-enforce accountability through strong internal controls and adherence to all laws, standards and policy.
While policies and by-laws are the mainstay of accounting, the Department works to be flexible, open to change and continually improve processes and efficiency.
All departments operated by CCN are audited on an annual basis by an independent auditing firm.
To provide sound financial practices, the department employs four staff. Financial services cover all the financial and accounting functions.
This includes accounts payable, accounts receivable, purchase orders, payroll, budgeting, financial analysis, and financial reporting.
